About Me

21 Stone 7 or 301 pounds
I am a Lebanese Swedish American who has been happily living in the North West of England for nearly twenty two years.  I was born in Massachusetts and before I was one, was whisked away to travel and live in many different countries-my father was a Navy officer and my mother a Phoenician Princess (OK-a little hyperbole).  What is true is that my love of travel began during this time.  When I was eight, we returned to the USA (San Angelo, Texas)  I was raised on  healthy Mediterranean food-no matter where we lived.  In fact from Goodfellow AFB we moved to Ft. Meade Maryland.  My mother grew her own zucchini and we picked wild grape leaves so she could stuff them both.  I only began to have problems with my weight in my early teens.  By this time both of my parents worked at the DLI in Montery, California.  I lived in a glorious state with access to an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables; and I lived on them all-but, at fifteen my weight began to be difficult to manage.  Over four decades I have yo-yo'd with my weight-301 pounds is my heaviest recorded weight (I am sure I was even more-I dieted two weeks before I knew I was to be weighed officially!).  At 33 I started to have mysterious chronic bodily pain, brain fog, bi-lateral tinnitus, skin problems, infertility and the investigations began.  At 40 in 2005, I was told I might have Lupus and my body had attacked my thyroid-basically chowing down until it was gone-but a formal diagnoses at that point was not made.   Finally, in the summer of 2011, 6 years later, I was officially  diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  It was time to tackle my weight as the medication to help my FMS symptoms began to help ease the pain especially of walking for long periods.   From 2011 and until 2013, I managed to get down from over 300 pounds to 224 pounds maintaining it with 'biohacking'.   Then, wham, I began to struggle with symptoms that differed from FMS and then Psoriatic arthritis.  Thankfully, I was able to see a new specialist and was formally diagnosed with Lupus-a combination of the right meds (methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine), continuing to 'biohack', implementation of CBT, plus joining Slimming World means I am now in the 12 stone bracket and on my way to goal.  As of August 2016, I have readjusted my final goal weight to 155 and have begun a fitness plan with my local gym.  Excited to make my fifties the best decade so far!

“It's not enough to have lived.

We should be determined to live for something.

May I suggest that it be creating joy for others,

sharing what we have for the betterment of personkind,

bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely.”

Oh!  One final word on the word-Voluptuous

Voluptuous is such a wonderful word; I love to say it.  Go on, try it.  Play around with the formation of curvy vowels-round and slinky between the consonants.  The letter 'l' just has to push off of the back of your teeth-the whole of your lips and mouth are involved.  I am committed to living a voluptuous life and living in a healthy voluptuous body.
